| The
Singapore Reinsurers' Association (SRA) was formed in 1979
with the main aim of facilitating and encouraging co-operation
amongst all companies transacting reinsurance business in
Singapore. As a trade association, the SRA collectively
represents its members in matters affecting their interests
in the reinsurance business and aims to upgrade reinsurance
expertise in Singapore by promoting education and training
in all aspects of the industry.
There
are two classes of membership, namely Ordinary Membership
for all companies licensed to transact reinsurance business
in Singapore, and Associate Membership which is open to
all organisations or individuals associated with or interested
in the insurance and reinsurance business in Singapore or
elsewhere. The Association's 11 founding members in 1979
were Cologne Re, Copenhagen Re, ICS Re, Korean Re, London
Guarantee Re, Munich Re, RMCA Re, SCOR, Skandia, Singapore
Re and United Asia Re. Since then, membership has grown
steadily to the present 17 Ordinary, 6 Associate and 1 Honorary
members.
The
Association's affairs are managed by an Executive Committee
(EXCO) comprising up to ten representatives of Ordinary
members, and headed by the Chairman. Mr A. A. Peerbhoy,
who was then Principal Officer of London Guarantee Re, had
the honour of being the Association's first Chairman. The
present SRA EXCO is headed by Mr Christopher Ho Siow Soong
of AXA Re Asia Pacific Pte Ltd. |
